uninstall Endpoint Encryption

Jump to solution

Hi ,

I have recently installed McAfee Drive Encryption 7.1.1 . All my disks were successfully encrypted.
Now i need to upgrade my OS . I have decrypted all my drives but i still get pre boot authentication.

Can i uninstall the MDE at this point of time or do i need to follow any procedure?

Thanks.

If you still get pre-boot authentication it means that McAfee still controls the boot record, so I wouldn't try a OS upgrade as it might require a complete system reimage.

you need to make sure MDE is Inactive on your system by unchecking the "Enable Policy" from the general tab like shahids75 suggested above.

Check the status of your system by clicking on the McAfee icon in the system tray -> Quick Settings -> Show Drive Encryption Status. Make sure that the system state is "inactive" and that the volume status is "No Volume Information"
