Hi, I'm a bit worried for the content in my computer.
I have a HP 8460p, Win 7, 64bit. I used the preloaded McAfee Endpoint Encryption tool to encrypt my harddrive when I unpacked, and started to use my new computer march this year.
And everyting has been working OK until now.
When the computer starts up, bios start up is OK. then the Drive encryption for HP ProtectTools (Mcafee) dialog box shows up.
I choos my ID, and enter my password (and I am 110% sure my password is correct),
McAfee EndpointEncryption retuns error code EE0F001 - Token autentication parameters are incorrect.
If i try to type a password that I know is not correct it replys with error code EE0F0014 - Incorrect Password Entered
I have tryed to use the recovery function, an selcting eiter of the tree XML files dosen't work (SPEmRecToken.xml, SPPwdResetToken.xml, SPSystemBackup.xml)
I have reported the error code to HP Support and been waiting, and calling them several times for abaout a week without any sucess.
Is there any way to get access to the HDD? Anyone that knows?
You need to do an encryption password recovery for the user, this happens in our environment when the password is changed in AD and not synched back to the encryption software

The software version that is bundeled with HP laptops is a stand alone product. My computer is not a part of a domain or a AD structure.
I dont really know what happned. I usee my computer at work late evening wensday in week 46. On thursday morning when I should start opp at may home office, this happend.
You're typing the wrong password - either because someone changed it, or because you're not pressing the right keys, or because the keyboard layout you have selected is wrong - so check the KB layout is right before doing anything else - try typing your pwd into the user box to make sure it works properly.
We can't really help you much here though - as this is HP's product, not McAfee's - it's not something we have any experience with, so make sure when you call HP you tell them it's "Drive Encryption for HP ProtectTools" - Your product is very different to the one we sell here.
I am having the same issue on some of my laptops, They are HP probook 4530s. Whenever I update via windows update, the following reboot will not accept my password with error code EE0F0014. I can recover by using my key but I can reproduce it on at least two laptops. The common thing that triggers it is running Windows Update.
Is your problem with HP ProtectTools, and error code EE0F0001 ?

Yes it is related to HP Protect tools, I essentially recover using the key since the password will not work. I have no issues loggin into windows with the same password that fails. If I change the Windows password it will work again, at least until I install a windows update or something.

I don't believe there's any link between the pre-boot password in HP's product, and the Windows password, unless you change them from within Credential Manager of HP Protecttools - but it's really a question for HP.
