Upgrading EEPC 7.0.2 to DE 7.1

Jump to solution

Hi everyone,

I am currently upgrading my EEPC 7.0.2 to DE 7.1. I am referring to pg 31 of the DE 7.1 product guide and I have some questions to ask. Do I have to remove the old extensions and delete the old packages from the master repository before installing the new extensions and adding in the new packages to the master repository? Also, is there any guide on how to put down the ePO server and on backing up the SQL and McAfee Server?

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Dayana

Hello,

No you should not have to delete anything, when you upgrade the extensions and the software packages they will replace the previous ones (you can choose to move the old software packages to a different repository).

The process to backup ePO is available at https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=kb66616.

Extensions/Packages shouldn't need to be removed.

One note that I experienced in our upgrade/staging of DE 7.1.  When we ran the database script, we ran into an issue where all our user accounts were then shown to be new users.  This triggered all of them to have their encryption passwords set back to the default, instead of what they were previously using.

It wasn't completely crippling, but it did cause an influx in our support calls for a few weeks.  Environment was over 15k hosts, which is why call volume stayed high for so long.

By the way, do I have to upgrade my ePO 5.0.1 to the 5.1 version before installing DE 7.1?

According to https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB79422, DE 7.1 and 7.11 are not supported on ePO 5.0.x.  ePO 4.6.7, 4.6.8 and 5.1 are all supported platforms.
