Switching encryption providers

We have a large number of Opal drives that where encrypted using SW encryption but would now like to switch these to HW encryption.

Is there an easy and quick method to do this or is it the case thatthe drive must be decrypted first so that SW encryption is removed then HW encryption can be enabled ?

Re: Switching encryption providers

You need to remove the sw encryption first - effectively they are always HW encrypted - even now.

please make sure these are supported OPAL drives, as only specific models work - OPAL is a fairly loose standard and the interpretation across the industry is pretty wide.
