Recovery button greyed out for USB encrypted with EEFF

One of my users encrypted a USB drive and forgot their password.  They did not select any recovery options.  Is there any way possible to enable recovery options after it has been initialized so that I can use a Recovery Key to reset the password?

I don't believe so - though you should be able to recycle the device so it can be used again (loosing the data of course)

The user has important data on the drive.  Do you have any other ideas of ways that I might be able to get into the drive to recover the data?  Are there any McAfee recovery tools or even 3rd party tools that might help?

if you're asking if there are back doors, no. It's a properly secure device. All I can suggest is you log a support call, but if the user elected not to have any recovery mechanism and your policy does not enforce one, as far as I am aware the stick is completely secure.
