I have encrypted a Windows 7 laptop with EEPC v6.2 - the laptop has been setup as follows:
1. 2 partitions - drive 'C' and drive 'Q'
2. Drive 'C' is encrypted
3. Drive 'Q' is not encrypted - it holds the Lenovo Rescue & Recovery partition?
Whenever I boot the laptop am presented with the EEPC pre-boot screen and I am unable to press the the Lenovo "ThinkVantage" key to start the Lenovo Rescue & Recovery process.
Any ideas how to recover an EEPC encrypted laptop using the Lenovo Rescue & Recovery partition?
What are my options?
Use your WinPE recovery CD or USB drive you built to run eetech and unencrypt the drive using the current daily code and either preboot user authentification ( token) or the XML file relating to this laptop from EPO on another drive , then reboot and run the lenovo recovery.
Hi Tonyb99 - Thanks for the suggestion.
I was looking for a solution which does not require the use of a CD/USB drive but rather the recovery partition on the local hard disk itself.
The plan is to enable my end-users in the field to run the the Lenovo recovery themselves when they encounter issues with theWIndows OS.
unfortunately, for that to work you'd have to get Lenovo to add EEPC support to their custom recovery code.
