How to move a encrypted system(EEPC) from one ePO server to another ePO server

Jump to solution

In my environment i have 2 ePO servers, i have few laptops which needs to be shifted from ePO server1 to ePO server2.

This laptops are encrypted(EEPC), so i thought of first decrypting the laptops through ePO server1 and then start removing the products(EEPC, DLP, VSE) from it, then again push the agent from the ePO server2 and again start deploying the products and encryption.

In this process lot of time is consumed, is there any other way to simply this process?

just push the new agent - the laptop will upload its keys automatically.

You'll need to set up new users/creds/policies etc in the new EPO instance as you did originally. Users/PWDs etc CANNOT be moved between epo servers.

Although it is possible, this is not the official recommendation from McAfee per KB79283 because of the possibility of removing all encryption users from the client machines and disassociation of the recovery keys. The official recommendation is to deactivate, transfer, and reactivate.

However, if done correctly and ensuring that ALDU is enabled, and the client machines will receive the correct policy upon connecting to the ePO server, the domain users should be reassigned and the keys uploaded to the new ePO server.
