FRP 4.3 - Prevent USB from formating.

Jump to solution

Hi,

we have found that a FRP encrypted usb can be formatted on any machine without requiring any elevated privilidges.

User can connect their USB drive which has been intitiliased with FRP 4.3. Once connected and without authenticating user can simply go into my computer, right click on the USB drive and sucessfully format it.

is there a way we can prevent USB from being formatted in such manner?

We are using Enforce Encryption with offsite access.

Thanks for your input in advance.

Cheers,

Reh

you can block format/eject using a GPO on managed machines - for example Devices: Allowed to format and eject removable media

there's no way to stop the user plugging a EERM protected stick into their home machine and formatting it though. If you need that, then you need to buy hardware encrypted sticks.
