XP and Vista operating systems are crashing after installing EEPC v6.
No pre boot authentication or any other authentication enable just simply the encryption process only
Group users assigned to group of systems
deployed to over 600 systems
Virus Scan exclusion set for EEPC file path
Windwows XP and Vista systems fail to load windows after windows log on
Bluescreen on one system
EpePC has been corrupted (error 92h): this occurs on vista systems
Systems freeze after loggin on to windows: on xp systems
Hardware features of affected systems:
HP pavillion (in particular)
I would appreciate any help thanks
Are you using V6 Patch 1?
Did you do a test for the hardware models you have before deploying to 600 Machines?
Test were conducted before deploying enterprise wide.
It was during our test deployment that we discoverd MEE had compactibility issues with HP drive encryption.
However, we still have systems on the network with similar hardware without issues.
Also we have noticed a growing number of failures on windows vista OSes. Some come up with errors like:
1. Mcafee Endpoint Encryption: Fatal error...
2. EpePC has been corrupted (error92h)
EEPC6 patch 1 was RTW on 8th march. It has just gone through test deployment phase and we are rolling out later today.
However, for systems affected prior to the patch upgrade, what do you suggest.
The Operating Systems of the affected machines is not booting.
This is very urgent.....and mcafee is responding poorly.
I have contacted 3 support engineers and all told me that they are not trained in EEPC.....
One of the engineers is escalating, however I do not know how long this would take? Time is very expensive
I would appreciate responses on this forum.....someone outhere should have faced these issues at some point.....we are not the only company running EEPC, or are we?
You are on bleeding edge of EE v6 deployment. Many others stopped while in testing due to discovered issues and the lack of major features.
May be McAfee can jump the version number from 6.0 to 9.0 like Host DLP 3.0 to 9.0 without any changes. then it may work :-)
Dont install encryption products now. May be by the time microsoft releases Windows 12, McAfee might get its encryption (and other) products supported on windows 7. They were under the impression that Windows XP will be the last OS on earth.
May be Microsoft should pull them off the gold partner list. It sure doesnt seems to be giving any advantage to McAfee.Message was edited by: easy1ndian on 3/13/10 11:24:25 AM GMT+04:00
You guys are cracking me up right now. I cant help but laugh to think McAfee had no serious plan for the Vista and Window7 editions is absolutely ridiculous and that is what it has turned out to be.
Wintech Recovery CDs have failed on vista with errors like Mcafee Endpoint Encryption not active. I'm perplexed right now.
Seriously i need to recover these systems, i have contacted mcafee and the only response I get is that it is being escalated to Teir 2.
Any unofficial procedure on this issues
Please focus on one problem at a time. Provide as much technical detail as possible (about system and procedure tried).
See if Patch 1 Release Notes adressed your particular problem. If it did, then you know that you have a problem with 6.0.0 for sure.
What EETech procedures did you try? Did you build EETech WinPE(v1) CD properly? Did you include storage drivers needed for your systems?
We followed the procedure from mcafee documentation on creating a bartpe cd. This works for windows XP operating systems however it fails on vista and windows 7.
I'm also at loss at to the drivers you mentioned. There has been no case in the documentation. Please enlighten me on this
Did you ever use BartPE? In which way it fails on "Vista and Windows 7" systems? This is a "Live CD" type of environment that you boot from CD. It cares about hardware, not OS installed on your hard disk.
Did you even try to research BartPE concept by browsing to:
Yes BartPE was used in creating the CD as documented by mcafee.
However, with windows XP i have been able to recover systems successfully, however with vista and windows 7 i have not been able to.
This is the scenario for Windows XP:
1. BartPE was created following the same procedure in the mcafee doco.
2. The affected system was booted up using the same BartPE cd.
3. Navigated to mcafee endpoint encryption
4. Typed in the Authorisation code
5. Imported the recovery file (xml file)
6. click on remove EE
7. Decryption process starts and completes successfully.
On a windows vista or windows 7 system, the scenario is as follows:
Steps 1 to 4 were achieved
5. Imported recovery file
6. Click on remove
7. Error: Mcafee Endpoint Encryption is not active.
I do not think it is a hardware issue, because, the BartPE actually boots the WinXP environment, however when the error comes up after clicking on the "remove EE" tab.
Please i would appreciate if you can give me a procedure on how to create one.....as long as it works and corrects the issues at hand.
I would appreciate ut help thanks
