EEFF and EEPC Encryption Keys

Hi everyone,

I would like to ask a question. I know that the keys for EEPC and EEFF are stored in the ePO console. Are the keys also stored in the clients' PC?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Dayana

Re: EEFF and EEPC Encryption Keys

Hi Dayana J, as far as I know they are also stored on client computers otherwise the wouldn't decrypt files when being outside ePO's network (offline)

Moved to the encryption group, who may be better able to answer the question than ePO.

They keys the computer needs are stored on it (encrypted of course), but not ALL the keys. Only the ones related to that computer and its users.

Oh Thanks. Do you know where would I be able to find them on the client PC?

They are not generally accessible -only through using the products.

Not really - why do you need it?

Re: EEFF and EEPC Encryption Keys

Oh. No, it's just for my understanding. For the Drive Encryption 7.1, the key will be stored in the RAM after the user authenticates to Windows and will be stored in a secure storage area that is not in memory otherwise right? Is it the same for EEFF 4.2?

Re: EEFF and EEPC Encryption Keys

no, in EEFF the key is flushed when you suspend the machine - it's not needed to resume, so the same cold boot problem does not exist.
