Re: Does Drive Encryption 7.1.1 work on the Microsoft Surface Pro 3

It won't work in 2.0.1 unless you have GPO configured for it.  Blocking activation on Surface is a BitLocker "feature" - for some reason Microsoft haven't made Surface and BitLocker play nicely out of the box without the GPO being set.

Perhaps we should consider moving this option out of the advanced section if people are having trouble finding it.

Re: Does Drive Encryption 7.1.1 work on the Microsoft Surface Pro 3

As its a requirement for PIN/password and for activation to work, i would consider moving it out into the directly visible options. Either that, or make a note about the requirement in the product documentation. That would have helped me

Thanks for the feedback....I'll look into why it's not clear in the docs.

Re: Does Drive Encryption 7.1.1 work on the Microsoft Surface Pro 3

It's called out in the docs under the bitlocker policy....

Enable use of BitLocker authentication requiring preboot keyboard input on tablets (not

recommended) β€” Enable this option to force PIN or password based activation on

tablets, even when the tablet reports that a keyboard is not available in

pre-boot

but it's not cross-referenced from the section on password/pin.  I'll pass that feedback to the documentation team.

Thanks for the feedback!
