Firstly forgive my ignorance and if some of my terms are a little out of date. I used to have a fair amount of knowledge and dealings with the encryption side of things and I have only recently started to pick this up again.
We are having chronic issues in our encryption envoronment recovering data resulting from either an EEPC failure or simply a Windows failure. However I need to break those down into separate questions but I will start with a separate one which will hopefully be fairly easy to answer.
We have a problem when attempting to recover data via EETech. On one particular machine I am able to Authorise and Authenticate via the XML file exported from our database. However when attempting to remove the encryption we are getting the error message Error EE04000B : unknown disknumber - This is also the message I get when attempting to authenticate via token.
This may ultimately prove to be a faulty HDD however lots of sources on the internet suggest making sure I am using the 'latest version of the CD' - I don't know if mine is so lets assume its not and I want to create a brand new one.
I am following the guide on how to do this (from the McAfee website) using PEBuilder. I have downloaded the latest EETech.zip and followed everything though. I am confused however that at no point in the instructions does it not tell you to download raid drivers and put them somewhere to be included in the CD? How will it be able to access the HDD without these? Or if this is just an assumption missing from the instructiosn where would I put them?

What version of EEPC are you using- v5 or v6?
Since you posted in the EMM section I assume you are using v5? If so then its Wintech /Safetech that you should be using. The instructions and files to create the recovery disk are included in the EEPC v5 package off the portal.
EETech is v6 recovery disk.
Can you confirm versions please?

I don't know the exact version to hand in all honesty but I know it's 6.something... It won't let me remove ee or do a force decrypt... (with the message above)
I have the EETech.zip package but (according to the McAfee instrutions in my last post) this on it's own is no good... The McAfee instructions recommended using PEBuilder but I will have to do some research into WinPE as suggested if this is the way forwards.
BartPE/WinPE - does not really matter, whatever you/your company is most familier with and has a licence to.
Either though, you need to build it to be compatibile with your hardware. EETech won't be able to do anything if the OS can't see the disk.

It would appear that we can indeed see the hard disks using our recovery CDs as one machine that has failed we can't authenticate (we get an Error E04000B : unknown disknumber) but even without authorising I can see certain elements as of data that seems to have not been encrypted. So it would appear that the HDD drivers are not an issue.
It would be excellent if McAfee simply provided a DR solution to their own product rather than having to scour forums trying to construct your own..... or am I missing something?
We do - there's a "standalone" version of EETech which ships with the product as well. You can use that straight off bootable media.
And I must say, we do provide all the necessary tools and instructions to build a BartPE/WinPE environment, though perhaps we assume too much that the administrator is already familier with using that Microsoft technology.
I'm sure your platinum support person, or onsite professional services person would build it for you - we can't "give" you one though as we'd have to sell you a new OS licence along with it, and we're not a Microsoft dealer
I am guessing though that the problem you're having with this specific machine has something to do with it having RAID, which is not something the product supports - especially if it's software RAID (ie, requires drivers). Hardware RAID is known to work fine (though, still not formally supported).
You are right, without RAID drivers your BartPE CD won't be able to see your hard disks, but since EEPC does not support RAID anyway....
The windows version of EETech though sits on top of Windows, so you need a fully functioning Windows environment for it to work - if Windows can't see your drive, neither can EETech.
So, if you have indeed installed EEPC on a RAID machine, you're going to have to follow the BartPE instructions etc and get working RAID controller drivers into that image before you'll be able to do anything useful.
Most people are using WinPE now instead of BartPE, becase Microsoft have made it more accessible - if you have a WinPE environment, you can slip the EETech drivers into it in much the same way as you would BartPE. Obviously you need to understand a little of how WinPE works first though.
