An interesting problem came up today. one of our technicians changed the motherboard of a system that had working encryption on it. once they tried to turn it back up, it returned an error of:
McAfee Endpoint Encryption
Fatal Error: [0xEE000008]
Failed to load Cryptographic Module
It is a Dell E6420 with the latest BIOS.
Could changing the motherboard effect this, or could something else have cause it. as an aside, we do not use HIPS in this environment.
Unless you are using tpm tokens, or changed to a processor which does not support aes-ni (unlikely) then no.
Most likely explanation I can think of is the new board has different drive settings than the old one, causing read errors in the preboot?
