we have an fresh encrypted Laptop. Now the the user tried to logon on the first time. For this he used the initial password. Changed this and logged on with new one. First the logon seems to be successfull. But after 5 minutes without any further actions and just showing the background screen it looks like there is a problem. If I am trying to logon with another user. Same problem.
It is weird there isn't any error message. Has anybody an idea? And what can I do to get back to the windows system.
FYI: We are using XP SP3 and EE 6.0.1
After a new os-installation and encrypting again. I got the same issue. Seems like there is a problem with this hardware. Other Laptops don't have this problem.
We just switched the backgorund picture (based on the McAfee Theme). But the change is not active. I have still the McAfee background.
What is video card in that laptop? ATI or nVidia models had some issues. What is OS version?
Try to change EE product policy and remove checkmark from "Always enable USB pre-boot support" in "Boot Options" tab.
Then deploy EE again (to freshly imaged laptop).
"Try to change EE product policy and remove checkmark from "Always enable USB pre-boot support" in "Boot Options" tab."
seems to be the solution.
A freshly imaged laptop get the error with this policy enabled, with disabled it works.
What are the consequences now? I thought I need this policy enabled to support USB-Device like mouse, keyboard,...
It looks like I need a second policy for this types of systems.
EEPC version 6 is not immune to the problems that were present in 5.x. So look for USB handback issues in McAfee KB.
