AES NI support - statements vs. facts

Hi,

Recently I was surprised after reading KB70359, because my experience shows that encryption on new Core i Intel processors (there with AES NI enhancement) is around 3-4 times faster when encrypting with EEPC 6.0.2 than on older machines.

For example encrypting 240GB HDD takes approx the same time as encryption of 80GB HDD on older machine.

What is curious

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AES_instruction_set list EEPC as supporting AES NI.

Regards.

not sure what your question is? the Wikipedia article lists EEPC as supporting AES-NI, and as you've found, it does? What question are you trying to ask?

Re: AES NI support - statements vs. facts

I had i mind following sentence from KB70359:

"McAfee is currently undergoing the planning stage to build the performance enhancements into a future release"

Where in fact it seems that improvements are already made.

Re: AES NI support - statements vs. facts

That article was from Feb - there have been new releases since then. I've asked for it to be amended though.
