Re: Drive Encryption 7.2.6 User Directory API - Display Name Attribute

Jump to solution

It's not an AD user.

I need to edit displayname for users created into User directory using userdirectory.addItem API command.

Query returns NULL for display name for users created this way.

Similarly, user added to a system is being shown as DN path, rather as name attribute. (i'm talking client side option of "save system information" from DE agent).

What I need is not really critical, but it's a matter of keeping things neat and tidy.

Ok, I found the solution.

Previously I was mislead by information here: https://community.mcafee.com/t5/Encryption-ePO-Managed/How-to-use-quot-userdirectory-getAttribute-qu...

After looking at an actual codes of EpoUserNames and EpeUserAttributes views in SQL and subseqently at the table OrionLdapAttributes i found out, that attribute name is not "displayname" but in fact, it is "displayName" and is accepted by userdirectory.addEditAttribute API call.

To be honest, I never really found an information that all calls are case sensitive. Maybe it's there but I missed it. It could be good idea to make it clear in the API guide at the very beginning.

That might be a question for the encryption team - let me share this post with that team.
