We are having an issue with some workstations where we cannot register the smartphone for the systems. We click the Register Smartphone button, enter our credentials and then instead of showing us a QR code, the system just logs into windows. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know how to resolve this?
Thanks,

Hello,
Most probably it has something to do with the MDE policy in place. Did you turn it on after encrypting that machine? In case this feature was enabled after successful MDE activation, the PBFS cannot input such changes automatically without rebuilding it(decryption and re-encryption). So is this affecting all machines? You can test encrypting a new machine with enabled Companion Device policy and it should work fine.
Otherwise this article could be useful for you to follow:

It is working now....it was only on a few machines but since some other updates, it is now working.
Thanks..
Great! I am glad to hear it is fine now
Hi, the solution had to do with another team's gpo updates. Once the SCCM team pushed out some updates, the systesms that would not allow us to register the smartphone started to work. It looks like it was a glitch.
Hi,
I am glad to hear that it was fixed for you.
It is not unusual for Microsoft Windows GPOs or deployment tools like SCCM to interfere with McAfee software.
