MDE preboot screen fails to display on Dell 7410

Dell 7410 models are not displaying the McAfee Drive Encryption preboot screen after encryption is active and in progress or has finished. Upon reboot, the system is stuck at the Dell splash screen. The only way to access the system is to disable Secure Boot in the BIOS. Then the MDE preboot screen is populated to log into the system. The Dell 7410 BIOS is version 1.5.1. The disk drives used are Micron 2300 NVMe.

We are running the latest MDE 7.2.10 Hotfix 2 (GA), which is 7.2.10.64. The ePO hardware compatibility xml file is v109. These are brand new Dell 7410 imaged systems with MDE 7.2.10, not MDE upgrades. We even tried with MDE 7.2.9.17 since that's the minimum supported version of MDE for this model, but same issue appeared. We are using McAfee Agent 5.6.2.209, but upgraded to 5.7.1.116 and that didn't help the issue either. Any ideas what to do next? Calling  McAfee Tech Support in the morning when I have a 7410 in front of me.

Re: MDE preboot screen fails to display on Dell 7410

Also this is Windows 10 (1909) operating system. No compatibility issue there.

And we currently are on MDE 7.2.8.4, and didn't see an issue installing that version on Dell 7410's. Tested 7.2.8.4, 7.2.9 HF5, 7.2.10 on Dell 7410's without any preboot issues.

We are having the same issue but only on 1903 with 7410. Tech Support couldn't figure it out.

Re: MDE preboot screen fails to display on Dell 7410

Hello, There seems to be some chatter around SGX & PXE boot on the Dell community. This workaround panned out for us, we were seeing PXE boot issues as well on 7410's. It also resolved preboot issue once systems were encrypted with MDE.

Option 2:
* Restart the Laptop and press F2 to enter the BIOS
* Open Intel Software Guard Extensions
* Open Intel SGX Enable
* Change the setting from Software Controlled to Enabled
* Click Apply- Exit
* On reboot, press F2 to enter the BIOS
* Open Intel Software Guard Extensions
* Open Intel SGX Enable
* Change the setting from Enabled to Software Controlled
* Click Apply- Exit

Hope this helps someone!
