MDE EEPC Encryption Policy Update - Standalone

Jump to solution

Apologies if there a post out there on this already; I cant seem to find it...

My issue(s) / concerns:

My company has laptops that will never connect to the network to check-in with the ePO server. We build an Offline Activation package and included a policy which I believe needs to be corrected because none of the drives are truly encrypted. So here are my questions, please keep in mind this is on a standalone laptop...

  1. Is it possible to update the encryption policy after the initial run?
    • I know I will have to edit the policy in ePO and export it but not sure how I can get the laptop to update using that policy.
  2. 2. If not, will I have to decrypt, deactive, and remove to install the new policy? (not sure on how to deactivate)

Trying to figure this out because we are testing this out and may want to use different settings based on the results, just looking at the hassle of loading different policies.

MY INSTALL STEPS:

  1. Run batch file to install standalone McAfee Agent
  2. Install EEAgent
  3. Install EEPC
  4. Reboot
  5. Run OfflineActivation
  6. Reboot and watch Encryption status: Turns to Active but no volume info (need to update policy to All Disk and not boot only)

@nate5886Thanks for choosing Support Community.

Offline activation is designed for a temporary workaround, not recommended to use for long time.

The PC has to be connected to ePO server as soon as possible hence, not planned / designed to enforce the policy over existing policy.
