Local user accounts and AD user - best way to assign

Jump to solution

I have a question about user account with McAfee Drive Encryption. We have configured a ePO 5.9.1 server that syncs with Actice Directory. When I add encryption users I can see the Active Directory users which I can add. However, we also have local user accounts on  each system. I am assuming that we have to add these local accounts by utilizing the User Directory. Am I correct in thinking this? Just want to make sure.

Correct. MDE does not automaticly create user accounts for local accounts. If you are attempting to create lots of User Directory accounts, you can leverage the ePO Web API to automate their creation. The MDE scripting guide has details on this and example Python Scripts can be found in the product download.
