Incompatible policy version detected [0.0.0] after server upgrade to 7.2.10

After upgrading our ePO server to 7.2.10, new systems that have 7.2.9.15 and have not encrypted are receiving the following error inside of MFEEPE.log:

enforcePolicy: Incompatible policy version detected [0.0.0] - skipping policy enforcement

This seems to be prior to actual activation, and it is continual

Re: Incompatible policy version detected [0.0.0] after server upgrade to 7.2.10

With those messages that are pointing to the policy, there are couple of initial directions that could be considered here. The first would be the simple approach of testing on one of these systems with a new policy created based off of the McAfee Default policy, which is a read-only policy. Of course, in the newly created policy, it would require various changes to ensure that the settings within it all match up to what is in the policy currently assigned to the system. As a general good practice, I always recommend backing up data before testing. For diagnostic purposes, we can take a look at the EpePolicyHandler.log from the agent handler that the system(s) are in correspondence with. If there is a problem with policy handling from the server, that would provide some insight. Beyond that, we would probably need to open an SR and have MER data collected from the agent handler, an affected system for further diagnosis.

Re: Incompatible policy version detected [0.0.0] after server upgrade to 7.2.10

Hi, we had this issues as well and after testing a new policy the MDE activated and device encrypted with no issues.

I did another test - I went and edited our current policy that we use to encrypt by making a small change then saved, the devices started to encrypt.  I then reverted the change and saved the policy and its working fine now for older versions as well as 7.2.10.

It appears that maybe the default policy for MDE was adjusted with 7.2.10 but custom policies don't change till they are adjusted / saved.

Hope this helps.
