How to speed up the start of encryption on newly imaged PCs?

We're looking for ways to speed up the time it takes for a freshly imaged PC to start encrypting with Drive Encryption.

We are just about to implement the recommendation in  - currently our EE Force update for UBP enforcement users is every 4 hours and we plan to reduce it to every 15 min.

Further, after our PCs are imaged, the DE components are installed and the PC is rebooted, we perform the following 3x with 10 seconds in between:

cmdagent -p

cmdagent -f

cmdagent -c

cmdagent -d

Our ASCI is hourly.

Our DE policy is to only encrypt if DE Go passes - is anyone NOT doing this?

Is there anything else you can suggest to speed up the start of encryption?

Your suggestions would be most appreciated.

Re: How to speed up the start of encryption on newly imaged PCs?

I have a similar challenge, although with existing computers. The time it takes from agent deployment to the actual encryption process is very random. Performing several restarts does not solve it and it takes normally a couple of reboots or just waiting 1-2 hours, after the initial reboot. I do not want to manually enroll the users but needs to to happen faster. I have enabled debug logging and started at the MfeEpe.log but cannot see anything wrong.

  • I can see the user account has been enrolled but PBA does not come up. I can confirm this via Encryption Users ePO menu and can see the computer has the EE:ALDU tag.
  • Only weird observation i can make is that DEGO takes long to perform checks (couple of minutes) and seems re-check at random intervals.
