Encryption key not available

How do I get the encryption key for a machine which is encrypted, but when I want to request the XML file from the ePO server, it tells me that there is no machine key available for the machine.

@ArchieScorgie Thanks for choosing Support Community.

The XML file is a must required thing in case of system recovery. This file would get wiped out along with the system when the system deleted from ePO system tree. Failed to authenticate using either of the options XML file or token lead to complete data loss.

1. Now, the primary focus should on the data. If you are able to login to the system using one of the assigned users, login to the system and back up the data. Then, decrypt the disk and remove DE using one of the method and reinstall.

2. If you have ePO database backup, you may find the XML file in DB. Restore the DB to test ePO and collect the relevant XML file.

3. Remember, deletion of encrypted system is not recommended at all.

4. Regular backup of ePO database along with folders as guided in KB66616 is very much required.

Hope this is useful.

I have had good luck using the DE Tech tool and using diskcheck.
