object directory backup status

Is there a way to get notified if the mcafee object directory backup tool fails to backup objects (or files) to a specific destination folder/share. We keep opening the backup log time to time to verify this. However it would be great if we get automatically notified if something fails.

Does anybody have a script for this. We were thinking of writing something in perl.

Re: object directory backup status

there's nothing built in, so yes, you'd need to write a script or something to watch the task and the resulting log. You could for sure do it in Perl if that's your language of choice. I'd use VBScript because it's easy to get at WMI to see the task list, and easy to manipulate text files etc.

Thanks for the info. I will try with VBScript first
