There were two logical disks (C and D) in my laptop (HP Probook 4530s), with size ~60GB and ~440GB, respectively. It is needed to re-install Windows 8.1 in C disk which 60GB was not enough for OS due to IT specialist. I used McAfee Endpoint Encryption to protect my data in D disk and logically cut some volume from it in order to add to C disk (to make it 100GB). OS Windows 8.1 is installed now, and how can I access and recover my data in D disk? Currently, when I click to D disk it is asking "Format disk" and it is not accessible. Please advice !
EEPC or Drive Encryption uses a sector based encryption, no file encryption. Therefore you need the following.
- Use EETech to build a bootable CD/DVD
- The daily token can be generated on the McAfee website
- a user name and passsword for the Preboot authentication or the recover information from EPO Server
With this information your disk can be decrypted. After decrypting you can also remove Drive Encryption
Have you reinstalled Windows 8.1?
Since you have destroyed the pre-boot, and changed the partition layout, the best you can do is run a force decrypt over the D: drive, and then use a file rescue tool to recover your data.
