Re: What causes "Error loading operating system" error after installing Endpoint and has anyone found a solution?

Try creating an install set with the option "update number of sides..." and "make MBR safeboot comaptible " option and see - if that works! BTW - is it a Dell or HP?

Re: What causes "Error loading operating system" error after installing Endpoint and has anyone found a solution?

The system I am trying to install it on is an Asus G1.

Re: What causes "Error loading operating system" error after installing Endpoint and has anyone found a solution?

Uninstalled MEE and went into Win XP just fine. Reinstalled MEE this time got error message "Missing operating system" right after the MEE login. I looked for the MBR options but only options available were compatibility for pc.

Re: What causes "Error loading operating system" error after installing Endpoint and has anyone found a solution?

Try another re-install, but this time with the "udpate mbr for safeboot compatibility" option enabled.

Re: What causes "Error loading operating system" error after installing Endpoint and has anyone found a solution?

This error message "Error loading operating system" when the EE is not able to detect the OS partition or due to corrupt MBR.

Check if the HDD has any recovery partition or any hidden partition.

First perform a emergency boot and recover the machine.

1.  Try to locate any compression or encryption software and determine if the computers with the issue are the only ones with those programs.  To verify, right-click on the drive and go to Properties, is the  "Compress drive to save disk space" option enabled or Disabled?

2.  Check the SATA option in BIOS. To check the SATA options in the BIOS,  look in the BIOS and see if there is an option to set the SATA controller in compatibility mode (or to disable native mode). If it is DELL machine, check Sata Operation Mode is set to IRRT in the BIOS. if yes, try changing it

3.  Try enabling/disabling the option “Update MBR for SafeBoot compatibility” and check.

4.  Check if  the laptop is connected in a docking station or anything plugged (ex. USB devices) into it.

5.  Upgrade the BIOS version.

6.  Always enable the options "Always enable pre-boot USB support" in the general settings of the machine in the End Point Encryption management centre together with the USB legacy settings in the Bios.

7.  Enable Bootdisk Compatibility

Re: What causes "Error loading operating system" error after installing Endpoint and has anyone found a solution?

Compression is disabled

There is no option to adjust SATA settings in BIOS

Have tried both options of SafeBoot compatibility still unable to boot

Have latest version of BIOS G1AS 209 for the model of laptop I have

Preboot USB support is enabled

Bootdisk compatibility is enabled

When I install Endpoint I get as far as inputing my endpoint credentials but when it goes past that screen to get into Windows it gets stuck at unable to find OS partition. When I remove Endpoint, the system will boot into Windows just fine. Is there a specific boot sector I need to manually set in Endpoint for it to properly boot?

Thanks for all your help.

Re: What causes "Error loading operating system" error after installing Endpoint and has anyone found a solution?

This means our boot process failed during the step where we normally hand control of the disk back over to the original operating system. This can happen for a number of reasons. For example, our code may expect the original MBR to be stored in location A but it somehow got moved to location B. Or maybe we expect the first partition to start on sector 63 of the first partition, but the disk is non-standard and the first sector is actually somewhere else (you see this a lot with "recovery" partitions on some drives).

Re: What causes "Error loading operating system" error after installing Endpoint and has anyone found a solution?

That makes sense, in your experience what is the best way to find out the boot sector that needs to be manually set in order for the system to boot? I have checked all partitions on the drive and only one available is the primary OS partition, no recovery partition available.

Re: What causes "Error loading operating system" error after installing Endpoint and has anyone found a solution?

Endpoint version used is 5.2.3, tried reinstalling using compatibility mode and it will give me error "unable to locate OS partition". I am trying to install it on an Asus G1 laptop.
