Various models will not get to preboot logon screen after upgrade to 5.2.11

We have just recently upgraded from 5.2.4. to 5.2.11.  We still manage via EEM.

We are finding a number of machines are failing before the preboot screen with the encryption progress bar stopping at about 25%.

Has anyone else experienced issues like this?

We are having to decrypt and encrypt and move them into a 'pre upgrade' group with the old 5.2.4 file set to get round this issue.

I have alerted Support to this but not having much success so far.

We believe approx 60+ machines of various models to be affec ted.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Without knowing the models, we can't really say - but if they are newer Dells for example, they may need BIOS upgrades. Have you researched any of the models on KC.McAfee.com? Any hits?

We are currently at 5.2.4 and plan to migrate to 5.2.11.  Can you tell me what models this didn't work on?  Thanks

Re: Various models will not get to preboot logon screen after upgrade to 5.2.11

sorry no, as quite likely those models were released after 5.2.4 was shipped, and probably work already in 5.2.10/11 etc. Only the model which inspired the change would be mentioned in kc.mcafee.com

Re: Various models will not get to preboot logon screen after upgrade to 5.2.11

Affected machines we had were Dell Mini 9's (Inspirion 910), Compaq NC6320's

We resolved by creating a pre upgrade group with the 5.2.4 file set.

We moved all models into that group so they would not upgrade, after quickly identifying an issue.

This upgrade affected 20 - 30 machines.  Could have been 80 - 100 if we did not take action.

We have had to decrypt and encrypt with old file set on the affected machines.

McAfee advised upgrading the BIOS version as above but this did not work on the machine I tried.
