We will be letting our users create their MEE username during installation. We're asking them to enter their firstname and surname then creating a username > firstname.surname with a first.name.surname.001 suffix if there is duplicate.
I'm wondering if daniel.o'donnel or sam.loyd-george or Róisín Murphy would cause any problems for MEE. I can see the console lets me create them but I wonder how they might enter a username with an accent at the pre-boot screen?
in our scenario many of our users are workgroup/standalone laptops, possibly logging onto windows at "teacher" etc, rather than a named username. tho I guess they can use ALT modifiers http://www.starr.net/is/type/altnum.htm
tbh I just wanted to be told that usernames with a-z is best
