I have a laptop that had EE installed . All of the sudden it started rebooting and shutting down before getting to the windows login prompt.
I booted the machine with EETECH on WINPE. when i try to authenticate with a TOKEN password , I get this error "EE020006" , When I try to authenticate with the recovery file , i get the following "Failed to retieve key check from disk the primary disk, press OK to continue Authentication or Cancel to abort" ... I hist Continue ...
what do you recommend to do in this case. Did the MBR get corrupted ?
Thank you for your help
version / OS ?
you need to start by telling us what the problem with the PC is - why are you starting EETech? What happens if you just turn the PC on and let it boot?
The pc is an endless loop of reboots, it powers up and restart after it displays the Thinkpad logo.... it doesn't even get to the McAfee login prompt
PC is on Windows 7 64bit
we are deploying EE 7.0.1

ok so you don't get to the windows Logo. Do you see the "starting EEPC" banner?
regardless though, you can either decypt with EETech standalone, or boot from WinPE and copy your data off.
is the disk info still intact in EETech? I expect not. Just follow the normal EEtech recovery processes.
I don't see the files in winPE after providing the recovery file and eetech code of the day !!
when trying to remove EE, I get the following ("Error EE120000" Endpoint Encryption is not currently active.)
your disk info is broken I expect - did you check?
Can you see the drive at al in WinPE? It should appear as RAW or unformatted. If you don't even get a drive letter, then you missed out the disk drivers when you built your PE image - either fix that, or switch your BIOS to ATA mode.
WinPE drivers are fine, i've used this disk on several laptops before with no issue. A43.exe shows a drive letter but nothing else
i'm getting the same results when using ATA mode ...
disk info is broken ? that's the error i'm getting when i try to authenticate with Token or do anything else.. EE disk info is broken? how do i rebuild that info so i'm able boot into windows or at least decryt and retrieve the files
if you go to the disk information page and it tells you it's missing, it can't be recreated. You'll have to force decrypt the drive AFTER validating that the key in your XML file is correct (by decrypting some test data in the workspace etc)
You are Correct, when I go to Disk Information page, this is what I see "Disk Information not available"
You Say: "You'll have to force decrypt the drive AFTER validating that the key in your XML file is correct (by decrypting some test data in the workspace etc)"
I clicked workspace and did "load from Disk" sector 0-2 and i'm able to Decrypt Workspace. so the test is good.
How Do I force Decrypting of the hard drive? Do I click "Froce Crypt Sectors" and choose "Decrypt" .... for the number of sectors , should i do 0 - whatever the end of the sector count is ?Message was edited by: cainapp on 8/6/13 12:45:22 PM CDT
sector 0-2 won't contain any of your encrypted data - you need to load a block out of the partition, and test that to make sure it decrypts properly.
Decrypting the drive is under the Force Decrypt option - make doubly sure you put in the right numbers for the sectors as this is VERY hard to undo if you get it wrong.
And make sure you are not going to loose power, as it's not resumable.
