I have a pretty straightforward questions regarding SbWinTech - I am trying to unauthenticate access to the disk after authenticating.
So we pretty much have an automated process setup in WinPE 3.0 to authenticate into an encrypted volume, and after USMT kicks off to retrieve files/settings - instantly reimages following using ImageX then reloads settings from a share. The problem is we have found that this makes the disk unreadable, probably because the imagex is wiping/writing to an encrypted volume still, so I am wondering if there is a way "unauthenticate" prior to writing the new image via ImageX.
We tried unloading the safeboot drivers to no avail. System crashes.
Thanks in advanced.
Howdy - so I figured a way to do it. Bare in mind that my use case is very specific and by the time I need to "unmount" I no longer need the data so trashing it is fine, I just needed the disk imageable w/o requiring a reboot.
In SbWintech "Edit Crypt State" > "Clear Crypt State" > "Apply Changes" > "Close"
Using DiskPart in WinPE 3.0, just 'offline' then 'online' the disk - returned the disk to an unmounted (and ruined) disk.
Genius! I never thought of that trick. The drive is still mounted and being processed through the crypt driver, but now it thinks there is nothing to do. You might have a problem if you try this with a 2nd drive - you'll need to nuke the partition gap somehow to remove the old install disk information, but for a primary drive it should be fine!
tommerysyip. How did you automate the "Edit Crypt State" steps? This looks like exactly what I am trying to accomplish, but it would be nice to not have to stop and require manual input after the state capture. Send keys?
