Been testing upgrade from 4.2.15 to 5.2.2 and installs mostly ok except one tester who reported that after upgrade, the SBClientManager.exe isn't running. Consequently, the new v5 SB system tray icon appears (becasue Traymanager is running ok) but the activity log and SBClientLog are both blank. Trying to manually run SbClientManager.exe results in the following Error:
SbClientManager.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point ?get_attrib_mult_object@SBDB_object@@UAEPAUSBDB_ATTRIB@@KPAKKK@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library sbdbmgr.dll
The tester still has a V4 login screen but the warning text is from our v5 container config.
Would just dismiss it as a one-off but then had exactly the same thing on my test laptop today. After a 2nd reboot, it fixed itself though, however on my Testers machine, it is remaining broken.
Any Thoughts? I can't possibly roll out upgrade with two identical faliures without understanding what the cause is.
I will probably try that later today, but as it was a test of an upgrade via synh rather than fresh install, I wanted to see if I could find a fix first. Could this be a registry issue?
Not really, the v4 Client Log shows success updating fileset to v5 then shuts down the v4 Client Manager. The v5 Client Log is blank and never written to as SBClientManager won't run.
Well, I did install a v5.2.2 Exe over the faulty install and it appeared to get SbClientManager running again on startup. However, I later had problems with getting SB to uninstall (it would decrypt but then hang on "Uninstalling Endpoint Encryption for PC Client" and SbClientManager would not be running). It hasn't been a fair test though as I had changed the client config many times in that session due to changing themes and ini files etc.
So I've just put out a number of test upgrades from 4.2.11 to 5.2.2 and sure enough, same issue on one install (8 passes on the same build). User upgrades, v4 SB icon dissapears. User reboots, gets v4 login screen with v5 warning text in it(?), New SB icon is in system tray but SbClientManger.exe not running and SbTrayManager GUI is empty (no text or encryption status displayed, just empty GUI shell).
What can I check to try and discover what is preventing SBClientManager from running at startup? Should I somehow check the DLL's in the SB directory to ensure they are all v5? Or are not all updated in upgrade?
