I have a dell d630 that shows only a curser when the pc is started, when I use my wintech cd and authenticate from sbfs I get the error 0xe50050001 Safeboot Client not activated. On other pc's I receive with thisissue, I can usually restore the safeboot mbr and that will get me to a safeboot login or to a 92h error, which I can fix. However on the d630 the safeboot mbr function is grayed out, it is not an option for me to use. The pc was successfully encrypted and on safeboot verion 5.2. Any ideas on how to repair Safeboot from this particualr issue?
you can't authenticate from SBFS if the SBFS is broken (which it sounds like it is in your case) - you'll need to auth from an sdb file extracted from your db.
The restore MBR feature was added in later versions of 5.2, so this machine might have been activated beforehand?
Best route would be to get the correct SDB file, validate it, and do a manual decryption unless the disk info is intact, in which case just eboot it.
