We are trying to automatically encrypt all removable devices on end-point. Then when we connect USB stick on the laptop. We got the message in the client status window: "
However, the stick has 1.5 GB free space.
Could you please advise us what it is root cause?
you know the root cause - it's in the message. What you really want to know is what to do about it ;-)
let me start with another question though - you do realise that if you encrypt sticks with EEPC, then you can only ever use them on the machine that encrypted them?
because there's no free space before or after the data storage sectors on the stick - it might be NTFS formatted for example?
EEPC requires a "partition gap" to store some info in. For USB sticks you really need EEFF/EERM.
I have situation when second hard disk (single NTFS partition) was added to PC. Got error:
Skipping Disk1 because it has no space for disk information
Disk is almost empty. Any troubleshooting suggestions?
just put WinTech in the EEPC client directory and run it up - you don't need to boot off it or anything, after all, we want information off the local drive, not a slaved one. Diskpart will probably do though - the sector locations of the partitions are the interesting things, but the data in the partition gap may also be important.Message was edited by: SafeBoot on 6/15/10 8:52:40 PM EDT
