I have an Compaq nc6220 laptop running Windows XP Professional and SafeBoot Security System 4.2 as the disk encryption software. My log-on and password works well to get past the disk encryption software. However, my laptop says it doesn't recognize the domain and my Windows log-on and password no longer work. The firm I used to work for went out of business so I am unable to go back to the network and log-on to reauthenticate.
I have tried to log on to just the local machine but the machine does not recognize the windows password. Don't know why as I haven't changed it.
I have the ERD Commander 2005 boot CD but need to find a way to engage it once the pc has accepted the SafeBoot password so that it removes the disk encryption. When I use the boot CD, it bypasses the SafeBoot log-on and leaves the disk encrypted.
Yes, SafeBoot 4.2 was installed by the previous company but it has not timed out yet and the SafeBoot log-on/password still work. My problem is the Windows password and would appreciate any help to fix it now before SafeBoot does time out.
Without connecting to the Domain Controller you wont be getting back into your Network Profile, your best bet is to remove safeboot and create a local account. You can then copy your data from your network profile to the local profile. To remove you'll just use Safetech. Another option would be to compile a Wintech disk and add a password reset utility to bart pe. Once you mount the drive you can use the PWD reset utility to reset the admin password.
