i installed the McAfee Endpoint Encryption Manager (V22.214.171.124)
I then created a key
I then created a policy called Network disable the removable media, network encryption, enabled the folder encryption with a network folder using the previous encryption key.
assigned that policy to one user
created the install set.
then installed it on another machine.
the particular folder in set up in the policy doens't get encrypted, anyone can see it,open the files, add files ect...
can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong? is there any step by step video, tutorial to encrypt files and folder?
i found some video and tutorial to encrypt removable media but none for the files and folders...
encrypt removable media work great by the way.
many thank's for your help
Ok, network encryption is now enabled.
i synchronised on the client workstation where i installed the exe...
still no luck...
i then redid the exe uninstall and reinstalled it. no luck..
i then installed it on a machine wihtout mcaffe AV installed. no luck.
i mean, how this should work? the folder should be encrypted yes? no one other than the one that has the exe intstalled should be able to see, had, change files and folder? correct?
here is the policies i got from the generated diagnostic files i did:
if anyone could let me know what is wrong, i would be extremely gratefull
or if someone could point me to a step by step how to i would be even more gratefull...
a bit more information..
when i right click, it only show "unload all keys"
when i look at the status, it says "idle" and there is nothing else in the windows
when i right click on the folder, it doesn't give me the option to encrypt it....
I am guessing you need to restart the client to apply the changes.
The explicit encrypt and decrypt only apply to folders that have no central managed policy. So what you are seeing is correct.
It may take a while for the encryption to take place if it is a lot of data.
thank you for your interest.
i did restart the client (several time in fact...) and this has been setup 2 days ago...
also, there is only 2 txt file in the folder, totaling 2k... so i don't think it is a size issue.
although, we want to encrypt a folder that will be many GB in size! do you thyink it would be a problem?
is there anywhere i can check the time it would take to encrypt a folder that big?
cheers for your help!
