Native Encryption and Bitlocker password authentication

Jump to solution

Hi All,

We are using the McAfee Management of Native Encryption to manage our Bitlocker encryption on Windows 10 with the TPM authentication method.

Due to the current lockdown with COVID 19 pandemic, users can't give back their device to the office when they are leaving the company, so we are looking on a method to block their connection on the system

We would like to add the system password authentication method, available through Bitlocker product settings, but how to define the system password ?

I found some command line on internet, using manage-bde command, but do you know if the password can be configured from ePO ?

Hi Jithendran

Thanks for your feedback.

I found how to define the password using the "System Password" option available in the policy.

When policy is applied, user is prompted to type a password which is applied on the next reboot. I guess TPM + Pin should works the same way.

I will explain to business and will see their feedback;

Thanks again for your help.

Hi @JLDT ,

Thank you for writing in here.

You can use TPM+Enhanced Pin for your requirement, however I am not sure how you can block their connection to the system.

Thank you.

Hi @JLDT ,

Thank you for the update. TPM+Enhanced Shared Pin gives more security than the others, just fyi.
