I got a odd issue that I am having a devil of a time in tracking down. When booting up a Dell D620 laptop that has EEPC 5.1.9, the preboot authentication window does not appear. It had worked for several months, so not sure what changed in the system. So I tried using the Safetech CD, but I can't authentication either both methods. I tried using a USB stick, exported the .sdb file to it, but it can't see the USB stick. The authenticate from SBFS option, oddly enough, does not even display the password only token. It's blank.
Anybody see this before?
No pre-boot screen at all? no messages whatsoever? If so sounds like something corrupted the boot sector - maybe a TDSS virus or something?
The USB stick needs to be plugged in when booting the SafeTech CD, but really WinTech is a better tool to use here to recover the users data.
Very odd looking. The background wallpaper appears, but the PBA window that asks for the login/password is not there. Then the other weird thing with the Safetech CD. I'll try with the Wintech CD and report my findings. Thanks for the fast reply!
