I just installed 5.2.3 on a VM box, then installed the EEPC component. Rebooted and started the EEM console. The only tabs I had visible were the Users and System tabs. Additionally, when I tried to update the file groups the progress bar would run but when it got to 100% the box just disappears and nothing is updated. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, rebooting, etc. No joy. I went back to 5.2 and now I can see the Devices tab, but still cannot update the file groups. I had an eval VM box up and running last year (fall) and it seemed to work fine once we got some bugs worked out, but this time it hasn't been working at all. Tech support has been abysmal as I've been waiting for a call back since Monday afternoon. Can anyone here offer me any assistance?

Make sure you install both into the same (clean) directory. The update file groups expects to find the files in the same directory as EEM, so if you put them in a different path it won't work.
Oh, and also make sure you have full admin rights, otherwise on WS2008 etc, you won't have permission to write to the directory, and the file shadowing problems will appear.
Thanks for the reply. Everything was installed per the defaults and I am local admin on the server.
Is there a log file that may hold info regarding the file group updates?
Any other thoughts?
yes - it logs directly into the status window of EEM if I remember right?
it follows sbadmin.ini, so if that file is blocked when you install EEPC, it won't find any new file groups. Compare it before and after installing EEPC, if it's the same, you don't have enough rights.
What OS are you using?
2003 server SP2
Yes, I remember seeing the logging on the eval server, but nothing on this one. It's as if the process starts and then just dies.
I do have Mcafee EPO installed on this server, but was assured that this was not a problem.

Nothing helpful here, I've been upgrading my console since 5.1.3.
Did you try calling back on your ticket, to get them to escalate it? I've found it takes a couple of days to get to Tier 2 from the Gold support desk, but once there, they spend a lot of time with you.
Sorry, can you report again what you had installed on that server (and working properly) prior to 5.2.3 EEM and 5.2.3 EEPC installs?
