My Fujitsu literally crashed (fell to the ground and screen cracked). Warranty expired. Need to recover files from hard drive with Endpoint Encryption installed. Connected drive to USB. Got message indicating drive needs to be formatted. Is any sw available to recover the files?
yes - your IT team can easily recover your data, or of course you can plug your drive into another machine and boot it up.
You can't recover anything without the assistance of your IT team though.
My IT Team was my first stop. Apparently they just swap & drop, and do plane Jane sw installs/upgrades. That's why I was hoping someone on this site could help.
Per IT, disk is "damaged". They installed it in a new laptop (same make & model) but it did not boot. I took this supposedly damaged disk home and ran RecoverMyFiles, but didn't recognize any of the "recovered" files (i.e. they are not my files). So, I need to find some other sw that can extract my files.
I am willing to tell my IT Team whatever you suggest needs to be done, but I cannot afford to give up on getting the files off my disk.
Recovery software isn't going to be able to read your data on the drive (since it's encrypted). Your IT Team should open a case with McAfee to get help mounting the drive on another machine, but they're going to need keys that only they have access to and software they can only get from McAfee do to the mount. If it's physically damaged, it'll need to be sent somewhere for data recovery and they're going to need the key from the IT Staff as well.
Your data can most likely be recovered if your IT team want to - the choice is theirs though, as only they have the right software and keys to decrypt it. Without their help I'm afraid there is no way to recover the data from (their) laptop.
