We have a sporadic issue running EEPC on HP 8440p laptops with Intel SSDs. Every so often. (For some people it happens once every 3 months or so. For others it happens weekly.) Something happens to move the MBR and when the user boots up they get a "Endpoint Encryption Device not found error". For Win 7 users we can run a Windows repair and that fixes the problem. For XP users it's a little uglier.
We have talked to HP, Intel, and McAfee about this and are getting no where. Anyone else had this kind of error?
Most likely error is :
e0050001 Endpoint Encryption Client not activated
e002000a Endpoint Encryption disk information not present
I have seen both sporadically occuring.
Yes, the user who had the most problems got just in time debugging errors, so he would reboot to try and fix the problem. As soon as he would reboot he got that error. Then we would have to run the McAfee/Safeboot recovery disc and fix the Safeboot/McAfee MBR before it would boot again.
