We have a requirement to install Safeboot Hard Disk encryption (5.1) on a desktop machine. The encryption software installs fine, we reboot the machine and when logged back in the user database downloads successfully. Once the encryption begins and the machine is rebooted, we then see safeboot trying to load, but then get an error Error 01h hard disk error.
Reading other posts statiing this is a BIOS / HD issue, I changed the HD mode from AHCI to IDE and this then allowed safeboot to load and work correctly.
Any ideas why this version will not work in AHCI mode? we have various different models of Laptops that are configured for AHCI and Safeboot works fine.
most likely the vendor missed out some of the standard BIOS functionality - you could try updating it to the latest bios version, or moving up to a curent version of EEPC (5.1 is out of suport now).
just checked with the vendor, we are up to the latest BIOS version. Is it easy to upgrade to the latest version of EEPC? just curious why it works on all laptops but only on some desktops. Is there anything majorly different?
