RE: Emergency Boot Option

That makes sense... though I never really thought of it that way because I'm so used to creating CDs using a CD image (like .iso)... Theoretically I could make an iso from this CD, but would it still work when burned on another CD?

RE: Emergency Boot Option

sure. An ISO is analogous to a ghost image of a drive.

RE: Emergency Boot Option

To make the disk more useful I recommend adding SafeTech to the initial boot menu of UBCD4Win. I've added SafeTech and WinTech to UBCD4Win v3.50

I converted the safetech.rtb file with the following command:
C:\Program Files\SBAdmin\SafeTech>Bootdisk.exe SafeTech SafeTech.IMG

I then placed the new SafeTech.IMG file in C:\UBCD\plugin\Multiboot-003\z_custom\images\ and added
\Images\SafeTech.IMG ; SafeTech ; ^ McAfee SafeTech for SafeBoot
to custom_bcdw.ini in C:\UBCD\plugin\Multiboot-003\z_custom.

RE: Emergency Boot Option

this allowed you to both boot PE, or SafeTech from a single CD? Sounds cool!

RE: Emergency Boot Option

Yep, works wonders for our support staff.

Another option for those who just want safetech on a thumb drive.
C:\Program Files\SBAdmin\SafeTech>Bootdisk.exe SafeTech E:
where E: is the drive letter of your thumb drive.

RE: Emergency Boot Option

Does this have to be from the server or will it work from a remote tools install? I will try this soon myself but justed wanted to know. A tech told me he didn't think it would and that made it not an option because the user was at a remote site.

RE: Emergency Boot Option

as long as you have EEM installed, it won't matter - it does not require a connection to the db.

RE: Emergency Boot Option

The files Bootdisk.exe and SafeTech.rtb just have to be on the computer that the thumb drive is plugged into. Don't even need the admin console.

RE: Emergency Boot Option

btw you can create a bootable flashdisk, just make a standard safetech bootcd (using BartPE), copy all the files to your flashdisk and to make your flashdisk bootable use a free tool PeToUSB

RE: Emergency Boot Option

This might work but if I'm not mistaken that version of safetech (wintech?) does not include the emergency boot option.
