EEPC Failing to Encrypt HP Spectre x360 - Unable to find system boot image

Hey all,

So we purchased an HP Spectre x360 laptop and are trying to encrypt it. However, we are getting an error stating it cannot find the system boot disk. I've checked and it doesn't have too many partitions (I read somewhere that it can only have three primary partitions - we only have 1).

This is a Windows 10 machine, and an SSD. EEPC version 5, 2, 12, 7 I've set the BIOS HDD mode to 'legacy', but that didn't help.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Re: EEPC Failing to Encrypt HP Spectre x360 - Unable to find system boot image

It sounds like the machine is running in UEFI mode - can you confirm? If so, EEPC5 (released in 2005) is way to old to support it.

You might also want to check if you have GPT disks or MBR disks - again, EEPC5 only supports MBR (basic) disks.

Just a reminder that support ends for EEPC5 on 30th June 2016 (announced in November 2014) - you only have a few days left to migrate to EEPC7.
