We have installed EEPC 5.1.5 on SONY VAIO VGN-SR 56GG laptop. after following all the pre-requisites of installing EEPC when we restart the laptop it gives me error "safeboot has been corrupted. (error 92h)" The installation set was without Encryption. It's SATA HDD and mode is compatible.
I tried e-boot, after emergency boot it went to windows but after restarting the laptop again same error is coming. while e-boot laptop was connected to the EEPC server.
I also tried restore safeboot MBR. it completed successfully, but after booting the laptop same error is coming.
Can some one help me out on this.
Restore original MBR then and remove encryption client (sbsetup -uninstall).
peter thanks for your quick responce.
As per log files from the client end we came to know installation set was of 5.1.2 and later on due to the Machines group configuration setttings it was upgraded to the 5.1.5.
We also did restore original MBR. but still the same error. pls find sbclientlog.txt file for refrance.
you did an emergency boot according to the log - not "restore original MBR".
if the machine is not encrypted, simply unplug it from the network, then use your Windows rescue disk to boot the recovery console and do fixmbr.
then let the machine boot up (disconnected) and do sbsetup -uninstall as peter suggests.
If you leave the machine connected, it will simply re-enable itself again.
Now, rebuild your install sets with your current version, or better still, upgrade to something less than 18 months old

Since experts suggest to always use the newest version, get used to upgrading continously, as McAfee EEPC goes through countless maintenace releases.
Considering also that not all "enhancements" are getting to EEPC Release Notes, or they might affect your systems without being mentioned anywhere, rely on thorough testing in your organization.
countless?!? That's a bit harsh - once a quarter at the most peter.
And, as you know, I never suggest random upgrades, only where problems are found. People should leave things alone unless they are having issues, and then only deploy new versions to those machines with problems solved in the new release, unless there's a compelling reason to upgrade the others.
Hi peter / simon,
We did tried restore original mbr as well as safeboot mbr. but still not able to solve the error, in next restart it gives same error. We just want VAIO laptop to work with EEPC.
After the examination we came to know that it was working fine in the version 5.1.2 and when we installed 5.1.5 it gives the error. its strange but true.
Could you pls give us suitable solution to work out the same with version 5.1.5 as it is not possible to upgrade. we have already 3 client file in the server.
As of now it is working perfectly fine with 5.1.2.
I have a question. With 5.2.4 and 5.2.5 either out or being released shortly, why are you using older versions?
Hi Peter / Simon,
Could you pleaes update the status as its a strange problem. As 5.1.5 is the updated version than 5.1.2. So it should work with 5.1.5
Update status of what? Suggestion to you: Try EEPC version 5.2.5 to see if problems go away. You can setup test environment using eval licence.
