No, it's an option within SafeTech. It's not a separate tool or anything.

Are you SURE you're using SafeTech, and not WinTech (The WinPE/BartPE version?)

It's not an option in WinTech, it's an option in SafeTech (the stand alone non-windows version of the tool)

Do you have any other devices connected to your netebook? Disconnect them and power cycle your laptop.

In worst case scenario you may need to Force Crypt decrypt your hard drive and then re-adjust MBR (Windows 7 MBR recovery).

do an emergency boot - that will rebuild whatevers broken. You should also consider upgrading to the current product version.

Emergency Boot will not work in many instances when disk information is unavailable.

Speaking of upgrade to version 5.2.8 (why 5.2.7 was skipped?), do you know what serious problems were addressed by:

5280.1 - Enhance the Endpoint Encryption driver to use overlapping I/O

5280.2 - Incorporate a custom CHKDSK when client synchronizes. (this was already present in 5.2.5, what's new?)

5280.3 - Unmount SBFS on hibernation and shutdown

5280.5 - Password timestamp synchronization issue (was previous implementation insufficient?)

True, but in this case the disk information IS available, so, eBoot is the correct procedure.

Let's not make it more complecated than it needs to be eh?

Sorry I was yesterday only a half day in the office.

Today I tried to start from Safetech boot CD and use sbd file of the PC. It worked, but that I tried to restore mbd to original and tried all other option include remove eepc from PC. It didn´t work with error:

Unable to find the system boot disk.

Also with remove of eepc:

Exception E0020001 occuered while trying to decrypt

I am not able to remove the eepc with safetech disk??!!

Best regards,

Dimitri

Unable to find the system boot disk is usually caused by a corrupt MBR (boot sector virus maybe?).

Next time, if you don't know what you are doing, call support and ask? You've probably lost this machine unless you can remember all the things you tried and what order you tried them in so the engineer can back them out.

All you needed to do (assuming the boot code was actually starting) was an emergency boot.

If I understood you correct. This emergency boot is directly from HDD and not from Safetech.

I tryider o find it on the safetech CD.

thank you. I will try to encrypt again the fresh installed OS without any HP tools etc.

Let you know if I will have the problem again. I think that it was some security software what I forgot deinstall before encryption.

Best regards, Dimtri

No, emergency boot is an option within SafeTech.

Has your company had anyone in to train you on disaster recovery processes? You might want to consider it. Pretty much everything is fixable as long as you follow the right process.

No. It is a pity but I didn´t find this option on safetech CD.

After boot from CD I started safetech program. There I could find everything except emergency boot.

Is this other extra program inside safetech CD?

I will boot netbook again only to check wich other program include this CD.

best regards,

Dimtir
