Can computer be shut down during encryption / decryption process

Hello,

I would like to know if a computer can be shut down during encryption / decryption process. If the machine is shut down at say 50% disk encryption does the encryption safely resume from the same point once the machine is powered back up. Similarly if the machine was decrypting and a shut down occurred during this process would it safely resume?

Appreciate any responses on this topic.

Many Thanks,

Chris

Yes, the system can be powered off during the encryption and decryption process.
