We got this error after 2 day decrypting the device with safeboot wintech
Any idea why? and how to continue?
either you told it to crypt something which is off the end of the disk, or you have some terminal hard errors on your drive.
Were you doing a forced decrypt, or a normal crypt operation?
Force Decrypt since normal decrypt can't be done due to some error.. no boot disk
It's seem that the SBR is wipe off completly from the disk..
and we need to used other thrid party tools to check sector count fro this disk and recover the partitiona s well
we've tried this step before manual decryption
Restore eepc mbr from wintech not work
error - unable to find the system boot disk
emergency boot from safetech not work
error - No boot disk was found
sounds like the MBR on the machine had been corrupted - best starting point would have been to set a temporary MBR on the drive, marking the first partition as bootable, then used SafeTech to restore the correct original MBR from the SBR file. Then things would have gone a little smoother, but the hard error would have remained of course.
Were you working on your own here, or alongside your Platinum Support person?
we've gone all this far
Can we create temp mbr now and the restore the original mbr from SDB?
any idea on how to create temp mbr?
currecntly we don't have any platinum supportMessage was edited by: mirrorless on 4/24/11 10:14:08 PM CDT
it does not really help, because you decrypted an unknown portion of the drive, and because you used the force option, there's no log of how far it got. Your best option is to browse through the drive using the workspace and try and identify how far the decryption got. Then try to decrypt the rest.
1) Can you explain on
Encrypting Disk 1242260, 48839500 sectors of? 488397168
what is "Disk 1242260, 48839500"
2) Can i create temp mbr and restore MBR back using wintech? SInce the SBR/MBR is not useable anymore.
You can't open large sections of the workspace. The trick is to open small sections to try to get an idea where the threshold is between decrypted/encrypted.
In you image, what would typicall be seen is "Encrypting Disk ?????, xxxx sectors of yyyyyy"
I'm not sure on your question of the disk ?????, this may be a random number, or some reference used by the PE environment.
xxxx = multiples of 1000 as it's counting along, showing your progress.
yyyyyy = total count
With this info, I'd guess that after 2 days, you were nearly at the endo of your reported count. I would suggest you start looking in small chunks at the WorkSpace somewhere around 488394000 forward approaching the end of the range you provided the tool. (488397168 + 62)
