Upgrade from GroupShield 7.0.2 to MSME 8

I am currently going through the 174 pages of the MSME8 Product Guide in preparation for the upgrade (O joy!) I have a few questions please.

MS Windows Server 2008 Standard SP2

GS 7.0.2  SP2  (7.0.913.100)

1 - How do I determine whether I have HF722718 for GS installed?

2 - We are running ePO 4.6.6. Should I upgrade to ePO5 before or after going to MSME8 ?

3 - There is no mention in the guide of uninstalling GS7.  Does that get done automatically when you run the setup wizard?

Re: Upgrade from GroupShield 7.0.2 to MSME 8

1 - How do I determine whether I have HF722718 for GS installed?

It would be on the interface version information - it would require GSE702 Patch1
Version number provided (7.0.913.100)  is RTW GSE version

Also MSME 8 Requirement is Exchange 2010 SP2 - what version do you have??

2 - We are running ePO 4.6.6. Should I upgrade to ePO5 before or after going to MSME8 ?

No need no - but you would need Extensions from HF722718 installed to be able to upgade any GSE policies you have configured.

3 - There is no mention in the guide of uninstalling GS7.  Does that get done automatically when you run the setup wizard?

Well you wouold have to install the Patch1 and a couple of HFs now locally to allow upgrade.  It ight be better/quicker to use Programs and Features - Unistall  to remove GSE702 - bearing in mind your policies can remain in ePO and be upgrade to MSME8 Policies - then applied to the machine when MSME8 installed.

Re: Upgrade from GroupShield 7.0.2 to MSME 8

Thanks helpful.

We are running Exchange 2010 SP2.

Since it seems we will have to "touch" ePO before upgrading to MSME8 I will look at the documentation for upgrading to ePO5 and consider doing that first.
