Release emails from ePO managed MSME 8.5 quarantine

Jump to solution

Hello,

I am pretty new with MSME, so please excuse my ignorance.

I've installed MSME 8.5 on a Exchange 2013 SP1 edge server, and because of the default policy some emails were put in quarantine.

It is visible on the managed system (system tree -> system->Threat events) that some emails fit into category "E-mail filtered", and action taken was "Clean", threat type was "Mail size". I do not have an option to release these emails.

How do I release these emails, where is the quarantine on ePO? I've tried connecting directly on the MSME managed console but clearly nothing can be configured there since MSME is managed by ePO.

Thank you!

The quarantine database and the quarantine view is in local MSME (not in ePO) -  locally Open Interface - Detected Items - If you look at unwanted content  or all items view - you'll find your items. Highlight  the item you wan to release - and the release button should then be available.

Thank you for your answer Aidan.

It seems that something is wrong with the MSME console then. I've attached a screenshot of what it looks like in IE11.

Did it previously pop any details on Compatibility View????

(Is it list in compatibility view settings)

Access <msme install folder>\bin\

locate file - standaloneui.exe -

right-click - select run as admin (if prompted provide admin account details.

Does this work??

I have put it in compatibility view with no luck, but "Run as admin" worked! Thank you Aidan!

So even though my user is listed in MSME access control, I cannot run MSME web interface? I must always go through standalonegui.exe? I've also tried using Firefox v30, and the console appears for one second but then I get "The McAfee Security for Microsoft Exchange is not currently available. Please try again later."

Well the standaloneui test show the console can open - do you need to run this as admin??

If so when you added user to access control did you run that - right-click run with admin???

Is the User a Domain\Local Admin - does it work with if you are logged on as this (of course with that account in access control)??

The user i am using is a local admin, since the edge server isn't in a domain.

The user has been added to access control last week.

I am logged with this account to the server, and the web interface still doesn't work, just the standaloneui, exe works.

Does your configuration to the edge allow the access to the webui from another one of your  machines?

https://<ip address>/MSME/index.html

Does it prompt for credentials and then render the interface??

Yes, when I access the webui from another machine it prompts for credentials, and then I get the messed up interface.

The same thing happens when I try it locally from the Edge, except it doesn't ask for credentials...

The only thing that works is the standaloneui.exe
