Nearly 2 years ago we went to install MSME 8.0 (I think, at the time) and got an irrecoverable install error on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard running Exchange 2010 Standard (both fully up-to-date). The error is attached.
Having migrated the client from SBS2003 and faced with an unprotected server, after a short interaction with McAfee support, we chose another product which installed fine and has protected the server well since.
As the client is about to renew their company-wide licensing we though we'd give this another go with the since released MSME 8.5. To our surprise, the errors are the same.
The SR# was 4-5291049573.
Basically, we accidently ran the wrong patch updater (ePO) at the time of original install rather than standalone. Nothing could be advanced afterwards.
I'm keen to solve this, as we don't want to be supporting different providers products for our clients (we recommend and install McAfee always).
Am I best to get info into this forum or go direct to support? We hit a dead end previously. Re-installing this server is not an option.
1. change the userprofile \temp and \tmp environment variables to point to a different folder locations. ie c:\temp (this will most likely require a reboot). after making the change confirm by opening a cmd prompt and type set. the user temp should show the new location.
